Learn How to Write Stunning Subject Lines

Effective Subject Lines Can Improve Your Email Marketing Campaign

The average user receives dozens of emails a day and if it is not sent personally, chances are the user will never open your message. Now I am not saying you should give up on your email campaign because there is still hope. Writing effective subject lines in your email newsletters can be the difference between your client opening your message and deleting it immediately. However, when you are writing subject lines remember these few tips.

Capital letters and symbols

How many legitimate emails do you receive that look like the sender is screaming at you in a foreign language? I know I certainly get them and I am not alone. Most people see emails with symbols and capital letters as spam and delete them right away. So keep in mind when writing a subject line remember that you can still call your customer to action without yelling at them.

Call to action

As I said above you can call your customers to action without screaming at them with exclamation points and other symbols. However, your subject line should have an ultimate goal that you wish the receiver to do. Whether it is visiting a website or buying a product, make sure you know what you want your customer to do before you write the subject line. Some basic techniques in writing subject lines include making the reader curious, emphasizing the email's importance, and announcing company news.

Length

As with almost everything else on the internet, the shorter the better, and this applies to subject line as well. As your clients read through their email, many of them are scanning as quickly as possible so that they do not waste anytime reading spam. Likewise your subject needs to be as short as possible. As a general rule, try to keep subject lines less than 50 to 60 characters, any more and you run the risk of your email never being open and deleted immediately.

Personalization

While you may or may not have the capability of personalizing the email with the receivers name, personalized subject lines can have a great effect on response rates. In fact, if you place his or her name on the subject line over half the time they will respond to the email.

Creating and writing subject lines can be one of the easiest parts in an email marketing campaign, however it still remains the key to your clients response. Don't forget these simple steps and you should be on your way to writing successful subject lines in no time.
