How to Blog for Money

Recently, there has been much attention given to the idea of writing blogs for money. The concept is nothing new if you really think about it. After all, a blog is nothing more than a simplified website, and people have been making money with websites for well over a decade now.

So should you blog for money, and how do you get started?

The first thing you must do if you want to blog for money is to set up a blog. There are currently two giant blogging platforms, Blogger and Wordpress. Which platform you choose when you blog for money will depend on which one you are more comfortable working with. In general, people consider Blogger to be easier to work with, but less sophisticated. Wordpress, on the other hand, is known for its flexibility and ability to operate on many different levels, even as a full blown website with unique features. As you blog for money, my advice would be to try both and see which one you like better.

Next, you will need to find a topic to write about. Many people will tell you to write about what you already know, and to pick a topic which you consider yourself to be an expert in. While I would generally agree with this approach, remember that in this case you are not creating a blog to share your expertise – you are creating a blog for money. And that's a different game. You should try to find out which industries are lucrative, and write topics in those industries. This will require research on your part, but one good way to know if an industry is profitable is to type in related phrases into Google. On the search results page, you will see "sponsored links" on the top and right side of the page. If you see a lot of links, this is a good sign, as it means people are willing to pay money to have their site listed in the results page. Topics with lots of advertisers are a good place to start when you blog for money.

Once you have a topic selected, write your blog. You can either hire writers to create content for you, or you can use the Internet to do research and put together your blog. One great resource for free information is Wikipedia, the online encyclopedia.

When your blog is complete, you must find a way to monetize it. The easiest way to make money from your blog is to put Google Adsense ads on it. For those not familiar with Google Adsense, it is an automated advertising service run by Google, where you slap some code into your blog, and get paid for visitors who click on the link. At a later time, you can add affiliate links to your site as well as you continue to create more blogs for money.

Finally, you must create links to your blog. You can do this by writing articles for other websites with a link back to your site, or trading links with link partners. This can take some time, so be patient.

Chances are, you will only make a small amount of money with the first blog you set up. It might be $20 a month; it might be $200. What does this mean for people who want to blog for money? Quite simply, you need to create multiple blogs. When you have a successful blog that generates cash, move onto a different topic and create another blog. Many people who blog for money have dozens of blogs, sometimes even hundreds.

Website Navigation

By Christopher Ferrante

Website navigation is an important part when creating your money making website. Your visitors need to easily be able to navigate around your site; if not they might get frustrated and leave. Also when your website is easy to navigate around visitors are more likely to return to finish reading certain articles that they were interested in, but didn't have time to read. Search engines also look at how easy your website is to navigate when they send their spiders in to crawl your site. A more easily navigable site could help your search engine ranking, which we are trying to get.

What is website navigation?
Basically it is how visitors are able to get from one page to another in your website. All of your pages should be linked together clearly and easily for your visitors, you never want to confuse your visitors. The website blueprint of your site should give you a good starting point for interlinking your websites pages. Your site should consist of Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 pages, please read article Website Blueprint for more information on this. Within these pages you may also want to add links to related articles so the visitor can easily choose which information they want to see.

You should also think about adding a site index or map to your website, basically a site index is a list of every page in your website please use our Site Index as an example. You should add all of your pages to your site index broken down into related categories. You should also add a small description of what the visitor will find on each page. A site index is especially good to have when it comes to search engines, search engines will pick up on your site index and see that your site is easy to navigate.

Also remember to add your income outlets into your navigation. Your main goal is to navigate your visitors to these links; this way your site can generate an income.
